The Comprehensive Moore Band Program

The Moore Band program is a comprehensive band program that includes woodwind and brass beginning classes, two concert bands, the Moore Percussion Ensemble and the Moore 4 o’clock Jazz Band. Students are taught discipline, hard work, and a great attitude through learning musical instruments.

Beginning Band

The beginning Band is a rigorous class that teaches each student a band musical instrument.  The instruments a student can learn are Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, and Trombone among other speciality instruments as the year goes on.The Beginning Band will perform 2-3 Concerts during the school year.

Concert Band

Concert Band is the 2nd group which will include some students with 1-3 years of instruction as well as some 7th-8th grade beginners. This will allow for more individualized instruction as well moving at a pace suitable for the entire group. This group will perform 2-4 concerts during the school year.

The Moore Percussion Ensemble

The Moore Percussion Ensemble is a class offered during the school day. This auditioned group learns multiple percussion instruments like Keyboards, Drums, and other accessory and world instruments. This group performs through the school year.

The Symphonic Band/ Wind Ensemble

The Symphonic Band/ Wind Ensemble is the premier band at Moore Middle School. This group is composed of students through a rigorous audition process. This smaller group will perform more advanced literature and have more concert performances as well as attend performance assessments throughout the state. Students in the ensemble will also have the optional opportunity to participate with the West Florence Marching Knights in the Fall.

Moore 4 O’Clock Jazz Band

The Moore 4 O’Clock Jazz Band is a beginning to intermediate ensemble that rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays afterschool. This ensemble learns the fundamentals of Jazz, Improvisation, and the history of the artform. This group performs concerts in the Spring Semester.
